 This formal portrait shows Louis Robert Smith, only son of Joseph and Ida Smith. Margaret Allen Cook remembered him fondly as "Uncle Lou" - she was nine when he died. He was also the godfather of her brother, Arthur Louis Allen.

He certainly looks the part of a businessman in this photograph - he was probably Vice president of the Smith Sash and Door Company when it was taken.

 This photograph shows "Uncle Lou" enjoying a trip in a canoe. According to his obituary, he was an athlete and outdoorsman.
